Parfumeur, artiste multidisciplinaire et anthropologue franco-canadienne, je travaille depuis une vingtaine d'années à la préservation et à la promotion de la culture et du patrimoine ainsi qu’autour de la notion de mémoire, à travers une forme artistique ‘transversale’ : l’art olfactif.
Au-delà de la composition d’un parfum, qui est déjà en soi une œuvre invisible, je le mets en scène au sein d’installations olfactives, en solo ou en collaboration avec d’autres artistes.
French-Canadian perfumer, multidisciplinary artist and anthropologist, I've been working for some twenty years on the preservation and promotion of culture and heritage, as well as around the notion of memory, through a 'transversal' art form: olfactory art. Beyond the composition of a perfume, which is already an invisible work in itself, I stage it in olfactory installations, either solo or in collaboration with other artists.

Reconstituer le souvenir d’un lieu de mémoire, par ses odeurs, pour faire l’expérience du paysage par le nez.
Territoires olfactifs est une invitation à voyager à travers le temps, à faire l’expérience du paysage et ses odeurs. L’exposition consiste en deux tableaux à sentir, réalisés autour du Québec (Territoire I) et de la Normandie (Territoire II). J’y raconte ma relation à ces deux lieux-racines et dont j’ai recomposé le souvenir, en odeurs. J’y explore la notion de paysage olfactif à travers le prisme du souvenir En collaboration étroite avec Bain de Minuit, studio Multimédia, j’utilise lʼIntelligence Artificielle afin de prolonger ma réflexion autour des formes olfactives du souvenir: quelle esthétique donner aux odeurs et à l’intangible? Quelle matérialité leur donner ? Fruit d’un dialogue entre l’IA et mon approche de parfumeur, cette installation est devenue une oeuvre commune à travers deux interprétations différentes de Territoire I et II, associant l’approche du numérique et “détachée” de l’IA et la mienne, “empirique” et “sensible”. Ce dialogue révèle la part vivante de l’expérience vécue par celui qui regarde et qui sent, et qui se transforme en souvenir sous la “forme” d’une odeur.

Reconstruct the memory of a place from memory, through its smells, to experience the landscape through the nose.
Territoires olfactifs is an invitation to travel through time, to experience the landscape and its scents. The exhibition consists of two canvas to smell, created around Quebec (Territoire I) and Normandy (Territoire II). In them, I recount my relationship with these two places-roots of which I have recomposed the memory, in smells. I explore the notion of the olfactory landscape through the prism of memory. In close collaboration with Bain de Minuit, Multimedia Studio, I use artificial intelligence to extend my thinking around the olfactory forms of memory: what aesthetic should be given to odors and the intangible? What materiality should we give them? The fruit of a dialogue between AI and my approach as a perfumer, this installation became a joint work through two different interpretations of Territoire I and II, combining the digital and "detached" approach of AI and my own, "empirical" and "sensitive". This dialogue reveals the living part of the experience lived by those who look and smell, and which is transformed into a memory in the "form" of a scent.

Inspirée par le pissenlit, je le mets ici à l’honneur et en odeur, dans un nouvel objet sentant: une gouttière olfactive. Élément indissociable de la ruelle, la gouttière est ici détournée de son sens, pour un véritable détournement des sens... Voici une expérience sensorielle inédite, un jeu de contrastes entre une nature végétale immaculée et le décor urbain de la ruelle. Deux univers qui s’entrechoquent et se révèlent l’un à l’autre. Une illusion olfactive, une émotion venue d’ailleurs, une immersion sensorielle qui invite à changer notre manière de percevoir l’art urbain.

Inspired by the dandelion, I bring it to life in a new scented object: an olfactory gutter. An inseparable element of the alleyway, the gutter is here diverted from its original meaning, for a veritable detour of the senses... It's an original sensory experience, a play of contrasts between immaculate plant life and the urban décor of the alleyway. Two worlds collide and reveal themselves to each other. An olfactory illusion, an emotion from elsewhere, a sensory immersion that invites us to change the way we perceive urban air.

Le Scentcatcher s'inspire du capteur de rêves, symbole des Indiens d'Amérique du Nord. Concidérant les Amériques comme source de matières premières essentielles à la parfumerie, le Scentcatcher tisse des liens olfactifs entre les continents et nous invite à nous immerger dans un univers onirique multi-sensoriel.

The Scentcatcher is inspired by the dreamcatcher, symbol of the North American Indians. Considering the Americas as a source of essential raw materials for perfumery, the Scentcatcher weaves olfactory links between continents, inviting us to immerse ourselves in a multi-sensory dream world.
